Taylor Swift's 'reputation' First Day Sales Numbers Are Huge!

The numbers are in for Taylor Swift‘s first day of sales in the U.S. for her new album reputation!

The album has sold approximately 700,000 copies so far after just 24 hours in stores and on iTunes. The number could grow after all retail stores report their sales figures, according to Billboard.

Taylor‘s album is on track to top one million copies in sales for its first week and this would extend her record to four albums with first week sales topping one million. She is currently the only artist to have three albums reach that sales mark. 1989 debuted in 2014 with 1.29 million copies sold, Red debuted in 2012 with 1.21 million copies, and Speak Now was released in 2010 to sales of 1.05 million copies.

This will also mark Taylor‘s fifth consecutive album to launch at number one on the Billboard 200 chart!

Make sure to read Taylor‘s latest comment about the album, which could totally change the way you interpret the songs.

Taylor Swift's Latest Comment Will Change the Way You Listen to 'reputation'

Taylor Swift is giving some insight into her new album reputation and what she said might change the way you listen to the album and interpret the lyrics.

By now, everyone already has an idea of what they think each of the 15 songs on the album are about, but what Taylor probably will change your way of thinking.

“Reputation, in my mind, is an album that is very linear in its timeline,” Taylor said during a special SiriusXM set on Friday (November 10). “…meaning that it starts out kind of where I first was when I first started making the record. The album ends more with where I am now in my life.”

If the album truly serves as a timeline to moments in Taylor‘s life, then that will help narrow down who some of the songs are about!

Taylor begins by stating, “Here’s something I’ve learned about people,” and proceeds to share her thoughts on her generation, social media, and the ups and downs of fame.

“We think we know someone, but the truth is that we only know the version of them they have chosen to show us,” she writes. “We know our friend in a certain light, but we don’t know them the way their lover does. Just the way their lover will never know them the same way that you do as their friend. Their mother knows them differently than their roommate, who knows them differently than their colleague. Their secret admirer looks at them and sees an elaborate sunset of brilliant color and dimension and spirit and pricelessness. And yet, a stranger will pass that person and see a faceless member of the crowd, nothing more. We may hear rumors about a person and believe those things to be true. We may one day meet that person and feel foolish for believing baseless gossip.”
