“It’s scary,” she told the U.K.’s Channel 4 News. “It’s this new language that’s forming that I don’t even recognize. It’s really polarizing and upsetting. I’ve heard things and seen things on TV in my own country that devastate me and make me sick. It’s just really confusing.”

Jennifer added that it was difficult promoting her new movie while hurricanes Harvey and Irma were causing so much destruction.

“It’s also scary to know that climate change is due to human activity and we continue to ignore it,” she shared. “You’re watching these hurricanes now and it’s hard not to feel Mother Nature’s rage and wrath.”

Hear what else she had to say below.

her face looks different. i don’t give a shit about what she thinks about global warming or anything else. she’s not exactly a rocket scientist.

  • werd

You don’t need to be a rocket scientist to know that climate change is happening.

  • Michele

No matter what side of climate change you sit on, and no matter how much man has influenced it, to blame Trump is ridiculous. He has been in office 8 1/2 months. Nothing he has done or not done has had any major impact on this situation. But please continue to blame him.

  • Curt Noydb

When, in the History of the Earth, has the climate not changed?

  • Sansa Squad

Well he’s not helping, and anyone who’s not actively helping shoulders *part* of the blame. No one’s saying it’s entirely his fault, but he’s in a position where he has the power to exert meaningful change in the right direction, and he (or the people who make his decisions for him, idk) willfully chooses not to, simply to appease an ignorant fraction of his base. It’s insulting to all of us and destructive to the world we live in.

  • Sansa Squad

Do you mind me asking how old you are? I’m trying to understand if this is some kind of weird generational schism where you weren’t taught in science class that climate change is an unequivocally proven, factual scientific phenomenon like the rest of us have been for most of our lives. It might surprise you that it’s not too late to REVERSE climate change if we take serious, meaningful action right now. You can deny it all you want but you’re not doing yourself, your children, or your planet any favors.

  • Sansa Squad

How sad that the polarization of our political system means a sizable portion of intelligent, educated Americans refuse to acknowledge climate change just because they consider it a ~liberal~ “belief” – why isn’t there ANYTHING we can all agree on for the good of all of us and our planet?! You have to be clinically insane not to believe the insurmountable evidence proving its existence, so it’s obviously willful ignorance at this point. It’s truly a shame when Jennifer Lawrence of all people has to educate us on why we should care about this issue.

  • Newromantic

Can’t blame a president that has barely been in office. It’s not his fault. She should just stick to what’s she does best…acting.

    she is dumb and stupid

hmm and even SHE understands the basics of climate change and feels a sense of urgency to address it!! imagine that

  • suzybel

Not sure what we can do about climate change, it’s like too little too late. But Jennifer Lawrence is a bit of an airhead, I don’t think too many peoole take her seriously.

  • Imperialist

Every time she opens ger mouth, she sounds dumber and dumber. I am embarrassed for her.

  • Sprite

It’s good to show the conservative side.

  • Sansa Squad

Not sure where you’re getting your information but it’s NOT too late – we’re at a pivotal point where if we ALL work together to combat it (the whole idea behind the Paris Agreement), we CAN reverse it. If we do nothing, in just a few years it WILL be too late. Stop buying into and spreading this ambivalent (and incorrect) attitude. TAKE her seriously, because she’s right.

  • Jackstraw

Just to let you know, not all of us are ideologically driven to believe in something because of liberal or conservative policy.
Some of us actually look at climate change based on history and scientific measurements, some of us might be engineers and scientists ourselves that disagree with Jennifer Lawrence on this issue.
If I wanted to know what color shoes go with that dress I might give her a call, but it appears meteorology isn’t her best subject.
I could bore you with prior history and science, but please read this article:
http://www.heritage.org/environment/report/the-state-climate-science-no-justification-extreme-policies#_ftn2 they do a very good job of breaking this down.
But to sum it up: Yes the climate changes all of the time, remember the earth has gone through many ice ages and many warming cycles over thousands of years.
Your probably too young to remember but in the 1970′s all of the scientists said we only had 10 yrs to live because the ice age was coming.
This climate cycle isn’t really that remarkable or unusual in fact it’s pretty normal (you just have to look at it over 1000′s of years).
The likely hood that humans or cow farts have much impact on the earths temperature is unlikely, humans weren’t even here when all of those climate cycles occurred in the past,
and even if you decide that humans are the root cause, the experts will tell you shutting off everything in the world will have a negligible affect on the earths temperature.

Climate change is mostly an issue for the governments rather than the individuals.
Jennifer Lawrence is such a smart girl. I love her.

I am 54 with undergrad in Nuclear Engineering and minor in Oceanographic Engineering. If it is pertinent, I also have an MBA from William & Mary.I guess this “generational schism” of which you speak is dominated from learning “classical science” compared to the promoted “corporate science.” In classical science a hypothesis is formed from observation, parameters are set for testing and empirical data is gathered and analyzed In corporate science. The money is funded to achieve the results the benefactor desired, “data” is gathered ( and tweaked) to prove the result the financier wants. It is not about science but about funding and grants. As for age, well I have lived through the “Coming Ice Age”, Depletion of the Ozone Layer, then Global Warming and now Climate Change. However my original comment stands. When did the Climate not change? What created the mountain ranges, How did the Sahara go from a lush grassland to a desolate desert. What created the the Hawaii Islands? What caused the Ice Age? What caused the Earth (and weather) to be warmer during the Middle Ages than man has ever known before? What causes Continental drift? What impact does solar activity have on the earth’s weather. What about the earth’s orbit in relationship to sun in regards to lunar tides? Better yet…where can I find this raw Scientific Data that validates this cult these Politicians and Movie Stars profess?

  • Phil the Donahue

Lol, a meteor hit the earth. I thought u had a degree? Then the dinosaurs all went away. Or, do u think Jesus rode the dinosaurs. Where’s your data on the Middle Ages being hot. Lol
